Not for the Faint Hearted
What an exciting lesson for Year 6 this term! They had the chance to dissect hearts to try and locate the different parts that they had learnt about. Most of them were able to identify the four chambers and the septum, as well as a range of vessels. Two groups even managed to find a valve!
Isabelle – “I was interested at how thick the fat was on the outside of the heart, and then the thick blood clots on the inside. And we found a valve too! The heart was not as I expected it to be, I thought it would be bigger.”
Danielius – “I found the tubes fascinating and looking at where they went to. I really enjoyed examining the heart and seeing things that I hadn’t seen before with my own eyes. I didn’t know that the pig’s hearts or animal hearts would be the same as a human heart, I thought it would be a lot more bloody.”
