Today Reception and Key Stage One had a visit from Kent Road Safety Club. The children learnt how to keep themselves safe when out and about and how to cross the road safely (with an adult). Please find more information about the Kent Road Saftey Club at: Kent Road Safety Club - KCC Road Safety  

Children in the Red Squirrel class have been working with The Global Action Project in Term 4. Children have chosen different projects, all of them focused on helping others. One group choose to focus on supporting refugees and used some of their funding money to purchase pencil cases with equipment in to give to KRAN to give to refugee children.  Two children, Marley and Ergi's project was to pick litter in the local area. Some children choose to help the local wildlife and are building bird boxes to put up around the school. Next term, Fox Class will be working with The Global Action Project to plan their own projects.

The House Cup has been found and the culprit has been identified!  Through the clues left behind by the culprit, the children each investigated a part of the crime scene. The children explored DNA samples, conducted handwriting analysis, compared soil samples, investigated footprints and collected statements from witnesses. Each year group presented their findings in an assembly and it didn't take long to identify the guilty culprit...  The House Cup has been returned to the school hall and Mrs Bagshaw has apologised for her actions. 

When the staff and children came into school this morning, they discovered that the House Cup was missing!!! Mr Grylls held a whole school assembly to start the investigation into who stole the House Cup. CCTV footage has been found of the culprit entering the school at 7am this morning. The cheeky thief even left a note: The children have all been given an area to investigate. We hope to identify the culprit over the next few days. We already have a list of suspects...    Who do you think stole the House Cup?   

On Friday 7th March we held our Masked Reader Reveal assembly.  The children have been watching videos all week of different Masked Readers sharing a part of a story. The children had to vote for their favourite and then all the readers were revealed in the assembly.      This years winning Masked Reader was... The Wicked Witch - Mrs Bagshaw A HUGE thank you to MP Mike Tapp, who took part in our Masked Reader challenge. The children really enjoyed you reading The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

Pebbles and pancakes! The Pebbles children have had lots of fun exploring pancakes! They enjoyed tasting them during snack time  and talked about the toppings they might have on them at home. They cut up some lemons to smell and found lots of pips inside. When they licked our fingers, the lemon juice was very sour! They made our own pretend pancakes by cutting and sticking with some of them even making faces using the different foods! Outside, the children tried to toss and catch a pretend pancake in a frying pan. It was a little tricky, but they all tried and managed to catch it some of the time.  

Year 4 went for a walk down to observe the river Dour, behind Barton Junior School. The children had a fantastic time and were lucky to see brown trout, moorhens and even a heron. They look forward to going back later in the year for dipping in the river.
