Welcome Back to Term 4!
We’re back and ready for an exciting term filled with adventure! This term, we’re diving headfirst into the thrilling world of dangerous dinosaurs. Get ready to explore the mysteries of these magnificent creatures that once roamed our planet!
What a massive surprise we had when we arrived at school! To our astonishment, we discovered huge footprints leading straight to our classroom. It was clear that something extraordinary had visited us! To top it off, it seemed that this mysterious creature had a little fun with our equipment – it even left behind some “evidence” on the table!
But don’t worry, our keen young detectives are already on the case! The children are buzzing with excitement as they hunt for clues and piece together the mystery of our unexpected visitor. With teamwork and creativity, they’re determined to solve this hair-raising riddle and uncover the truth behind the dinosaur’s adventure.
Let the dino-hunting begin! Here’s to a fantastic term full of discovery and excitement!
Week 2: Move Like a Dinosaur
This week has been all about moving like dinosaurs, and what a roaring success it has been! Our engaging PE sessions allowed us to unleash our inner T-Rex and Brachiosaurus, as we made big and little dino shapes. The children had an absolute blast, flapping their arms like wings and stomping around the playground with contagious enthusiasm.
But that’s not all! We also ventured into the field and tackled the trim trail for the first time this year. The beautiful sunshine provided the perfect backdrop as we explored and enjoyed the great outdoors. With laughter filling the air and dino moves in full swing, it was an unforgettable experience.
The joy on the children’s faces as they mimicked their favourite prehistoric creatures was truly a sight to behold. We can’t wait to continue our dino adventures and see what other exciting movements await us!
Week 3: Fascinating Fossils
What a thrilling adventure we've had in class! Our exploration of fossils has truly turned our little learners into aspiring palaeontologists. Over the past week, the children have embraced their inner scientists, eagerly hunting for fossils and discovering the stories they tell us about our planet’s history.
To bring our lessons to life, we've rolled up our sleeves and gotten hands-on by making our very own fossils. Using clay and salt dough, each child crafted a unique fossil and experienced the magic of creation first-hand. The joy on their faces as they unearthed their works of art was truly priceless! Here’s to many more adventures into the ancient world!
Week 4: Pen Pals
This week, the children were introduced to the delightful concept of Pen Pals! The excitement in the classroom was palpable as we embarked on this wonderful mission. They enthusiastically planned what they needed to be able to send their letters, brainstorming ideas as a class.
It was truly heart-warming to see their faces light up when they realised they would be communicating with teachers and peers from our very own school! The children absolutely couldn’t wait to post their letters, bursting with pride as they showed off their fabulous writing skills, and use of language through colour.
Everyday Superheroes
This term, we're diving into the fascinating world of everyday superheroes! We’ll explore who they are and how they come in all shapes and sizes. From firefighters and nurses to teachers and charity workers, each plays a unique role in our lives. We'll compare how these heroes are the same, showing bravery and kindness, yet different in their skills and the challenges they face. Let's discover the amazing ways they help us every day, making our communities better places to live. Get ready to celebrate the unsung heroes amongst us and share your own superhero stories!
Exploring 2D
The children have absolutely loved exploring 2D shapes in our recent activities! Their enthusiasm has led to the creation of some fantastic stained glass windows. It’s been wonderful to see them engage creatively while applying their knowledge in such an artistic way.
Have you spotted them yet? We’re so proud of their efforts and can’t wait for everyone to enjoy their masterpieces!
Week 3 New Pet
This week, we have welcomed a new member into our class! Please give a warm welcome to Simon the Stick Insect. He has moved in with our resident Stickolas and seems to have settled in quite nicely. The children are absolutely thrilled to have a new little friend to learn about and care for.
Every day, they excitedly search for Simon amongst the leaves, trying to spot him camouflaged against the greenery. It's been such a delight to watch them engage with nature and develop their observational skills! The joy on their faces when they find him is truly priceless.
We’ve turned his habitat into a mini-exploration zone where children can learn about the importance of habitat and care for living creatures. It's a fantastic hands-on experience for everyone, and we can't wait to see how Simon and Stickolas become the best of pals!
Week 4: How to Make Healthy Food Choices
Hello everyone! Wow, can you believe it’s already Week 4? This week, we’re diving into how to make healthy food choices while focusing on different food groups. It’s super important to be aware of what we eat, isn't it? We’ve been exploring the colourful world of fruits, veggies, grains, proteins, and dairy, discovering how they each play a vital role in keeping our bodies happy and healthy!
And guess what? We’ve also been using our newfound knowledge to create our very own packed lunches. How exciting is that? Nothing quite like a yummy, balanced lunch to get us through the day!
Oh, and remember our jam sandwich-making session? We really nailed the importance of listening and following instructions — it’s a skill we all need. I can’t wait to see how you all continue to make smart, scrumptious choices on your culinary adventures! Look out for our fruit salads!!
Week 5 Tangrams
In our latest adventure, we delved into the fascinating world of tangrams! The children learnt that these delightful puzzles originated from China. We discovered how they are made from a square, cleverly cut into seven pieces, or ‘tans’. The excitement was palpable as the little ones experimented with different shapes and objects, turning their creativity loose to craft their own unique tangrams. Just imagine the joy on their faces as they created animals, buildings, and fantastic shapes! What a brilliant way to blend art, understanding the world and problem-solving! We hope you enjoy their work.
