Behaviour, Attendance and Welfare
BackWhite Cliffs Primary and Nursery School believes that in order to facilitate teaching and learning, good attendance is essential. Pupils cannot achieve their full potential if they do not regularly attend school.
We understand that barriers to attendance are complex, and that some pupils find it harder than others to attend school; therefore, we will continue to prioritise cultivating a safe and supportive environment at school, as well as strong and trusting relationships with pupils and parents.
First Day Calling
It is expected that parents/carers contact school on EACH DAY of absence to inform us of the reason or to update us. If we do not hear by 9:30am, as part of our Safeguarding procedures, we will contact you.
National Breakfast Programme
We are proud members of the National Breakfast Programme.
Bagels are available for the children between 08.35am and 08.50am every morning. The bagels are not to take the place of a nutritious breakfast at home but are in addition and will allow a soft start to the day for our children.
We also hope that this will encourage children to be in on time and therefore ready to work.
More information about the scheme can be found here: National School Breakfast Programme - Family Action (family-action.org.uk)
Attendance Challenge
At White Cliffs Primary and Nursery School, we run an Attendance Challenges through out the year. Certificates for children achieving 100%, 99% or 98% attendance at the end of the academic year are celebrated in an assembly and each awarded a certificate.
We appreciate that it is not always possible to attend every day for a whole year as sometimes their can be unavoidable appointments children have to attend or legitimate illness, so we also run an attendance challenge throughout the school year.
