Year 3 - Seahorses
Welcome to Seahorses Class Page! Here you will find out about all the exciting learning, activities, and experiences taking place in our classroom. We can't wait to share our learning journey with you.

Predictions in English!
The children have really got stuck into our Ancient Egyptians topic! In our English lessons, we are currently reading 'The Egyptian Cinderella.' For our first lesson, we used our knowledge of the Disney fairy tale to help us decide whether this different version of the much-loved story would have similar characters and a similar plot.
We used hoops to decide whether we thought different characters and events would definitely, maybe or probably not be included. This led to some great discussions, with the children sharing their ideas and explaining their thinking. I was particularly proud to see them using details from our History lessons to help guide their conversations and make connections between their learning. Keep it up, Seahorses!

Choosing our school council representative!
Following an inspiring assembly with Mrs Farrier, the children were very keen to put their names forward for our School Council Representative. We used a spinning wheel to fairly select our four candidates, who then wrote and delivered speeches to encourage their classmates to vote for them.
Our winner has now been chosen! We look forward to hearing their ideas and seeing them represent Seahorse Class at school council meetings throughout the year.

Beginning our French journey!
Now that Seahorse Class are in KS2, we have started our French lessons! The children have absolutely loved learning words and phrases in a new language.
So far, in our first lesson, we learnt how to say ‘bonjour’, ‘salut’, ‘bonsoir’ and ‘bonne nuit’. In our second lesson, we learnt how to say ‘my name is…’ and how to ask someone their name too.
We have also begun learning our ‘Meet & Greet’ song and have been putting our new language skills into practice during our morning and afternoon registers.

Term 1 begins!
What a fantastic start to our school year! The children have completely blown me away with how well they have done this week.
In Maths, we spent lots of time recapping things the children learnt in Year 2 and making sure we were confident with our skills. In English, we looked at how to set our work out neatly and discussed our expectations for how our books should look. We also visited the library this week to choose our first class book, which we are very excited to get stuck into together!
In our afternoons, we got stuck into our new topic, the Egyptians. We have been learning all about where Egypt is in the world and exploring the River Nile, the longest river in the world.
It has been such a brilliant first week and I am so excited for everything we are going to learn and achieve together this year!
