Mrs Cox's new Life Skills club met again this week.  The children learnt how to make a hot drink safely. The children had tio identify dangers around the kitchen and how to keep themselves safe. The children all had a turn filling, switching on and pouring a hot kettle (under close adult supervision). 

Tennis royalty Tim Henman was at Dover College on Wednesday 3rd May 2023 as part of the East Kent Community Tennis Programme. The programmes aim is to get more young people involved in tennis. Some very lucky children from Years 3 and 4 from White Cliffs Primary and Nursery School were invited to attend the event. Children were coached by professional tennis coaches and practised ball skills, racket control and learnt the rules of the game.  The children returned to school with a very special gift from Tim Henman himself - a signed a giant tennis ball. 

Many people have asked for an update on the crisp packet blanket for the homeless. We are proud to say we met our target and have collected, washed, and joined enough packets to create the blanket for the homeless. Well done to all the members of the Eco Club and Mrs Cox who have worked so hard on this project.

Year 4 had a lovely time dipping in the River Dour. The children looked at the different habitats around the river and even spotted a moorhen nest with eggs. They learnt how to collect a sample using the kick method. They then separated the different creatures into a pot - they found hundreds of shrimps! The children made a raft out of wooden debris and competed in a race along the river. They learnt all about abstraction and worked in a team to abstract the water from the river. Finally, they learnt about ways of saving water.   Joey says " it was fun and exciting, I loved getting in the river! I even managed to stay dry!"

At the end of each term, staff members across the school can nominate a child who has displayed our school values of Unique, Confident and Valued.  This term 4 children were selected by Mrs Castle to received a Headteachers award for all their hard work.  Well done to Finley, Lana, Adelina, and George.  

Our 15 day Easter Attendance Challenge finished today! 100s of children names were entered into the raffle. There were 27 Easter prizes up for grabs.  The draw happened today, in the Thank You assembly where the 27 names were drawn.  Well done to all our lucky winners. 

Today all of Year 1 and Year 2 visited Walmer Castle as part of the Science topic of Plants. The children explored the gardens and learnt about the different species of plants growing within them.  Despite the wind and rain everyone had a lovely time. 

Wow! What a fun day had by all in Year 6 today! A huge thank you to Frazer Doyle Artist & Ceramicist for our clay workshop. We learnt different techniques to make a pinch pot and a coil pot this morning, and then this afternoon, we put those skills to good use to make different products that fit with our Viking topic. Thank you again Frazer!
