Year 4 – Roman Day

The sun was shining, and fun was had by all of Year 4 on Tuesday when Ash from Roman Britain Schools visited to bring their learning to life. The children learnt about the Roman army and why they were so successful, looking at their armour and even trying it on! Next, the children were shown different aspects of Roman life and Ash cooked a 2000-year-old lentil stew on an open fire. Afterwards, the children looked at different Roman artefacts, trying to discover the red herring, before finally becoming a centurion and trying to survive in battle.

"My favourite part was trying on the armour and using the wax tablets because it was fun trying out the items the Romans used. Also, seeing and feeling what it would like to be a Roman for the day." – Jasmine
